Legend McRae wins in Ulster.

British rallying legend Jimmy McRae (father of the late Colin McRae) proved he had lost none of he skill and determination by taking a commanding 2 minute class victory on the Ulster Historic Rally in Northern Ireland. After a cautious start Jimmy attacked the tight, twist and often slippery Antrim lanes taking the lead with 4 stages to go. Inspired driving and tyre choices allowed Jimmy and his Tuthill prepared Porsche to cruise to an impressive victory.

Private BMW stops Chevrolet winning streak.

Germany's Franz Engstler, in a BMW 320TC, claimed his first ever World Touring Car victory with an impressive performance at Oschersleben, Germany. The home victory by Engstler and his BMW brought to an end Chevrolet's impressive winning streak of run of 11 consecutive victories.
Starting from pole Engstler (who celebrated his 50th birthday days before the race) and his 1.6 litre turbo 320TC dropped down to second overall before re-gaining the lead on lap eight. From then on the German was never headed, taking a popular win in front of the works Chevrolet of Alain Menu, the Swiss touring car expert finishing just under one second behind.
The BMW 320TC is the latest in a line of successful BMW touring cars and whilst the 1600cc 4 cylinder turbo-charged engine and six speed sequential gearbox may be a little unfamiliar the results achieved certainly are not!

New owner!

Having successfully sponsored Erik West Rallying for a few years Erik West Rallying now own German Cars Blog!

Erik said "After their support when I was actively rallying it seemed logical for me to get involved with the German Cars Blog. I wasn't really expecting to get the whole blog but now I have I will need to see what needs changing, what is good and what could be improved.
Obviously the first thing that needs changing is the lack of blogs! A blog with no blogs is like a car with no wheels, pretty useless and a waste of space.....
I intend to keep the format pretty similar, no adverts, no subscription just acurate information in an easy to read format with the odd in depth article.
The transition between old and new owners will take a while and as I have a family and plenty of other commitments I'm hoping for a re-launch sometime in the Autumn of 2011.
I hope the new German Cars Blog proves to be an interesting addition to the motoring blog scene, comments are welcome as are offers of help!"
